6:42 pm

good evening, dancing queens and/or kings. i came across this community & decided to join, because a) i love nothing better than boogeing around my room when no one's watching & b) this community seemed like DAMN GOOD FUN.

i indulged in a little mid-afternoon disco in my room today, with my curtains drawn and my lava lamp on. tunes danced to included-

franz ferdinand- jacqueline
jay-z ft. pharrell- excuse me miss
the libertines- horror show
ash- kung fu
brand new- jude law and a semester abroad (strange one to dance to, but oui.)
NERD- rockstar
blink 182- dancing with myself
the beastie boys- ch-check it out
snow patrol- spitting games
blink 182- feeling this
and the hour or so of jigging ended with
NERD- she wants to move (WHICH IS A DANCE-TASTIC TUNE.)

i was wearing polka dot shoes & a polka dot shirt with a frilly denim skirt. and parrot earrings. my dance style was rather hip-hop chic as far as the pharrel williams featuring songs went, but otherwise was random punches and jumps. also twirls, just so i could see my skirt going crazy.

at the end of it all i lay on my floor in a heap. goodnight.

6:55 pm - Dancing in my...mother's room?!

The Atire

Green PJs, green dressing gown, trainer socks, hair in little bunches, glasses.

The Music

Everything that was on Jools Holland - Cool Britannia last night on BBC2. This included:

*Paul Wellar
*The Libertines
*The Doves
*Manics Street Preachers

The Place

My mother's bedroom, where I was taping The Libertines.

The Type Of Dancing

Just the usual. Crazy Indie Whitegirl. Random jumping, skipping, hopping around. (Think 'Up The Bracket' video, Libs fans).

The Reaction From Family

To roll their eyes and say that I was crazy.

Good night, I thought!!

4:26 pm

OK, just joined this bad boy.

Mainly because I *love* to dance in front of my mirror like a sad act and not care at all. My room is small, but I can just about boogie around.

When there is no one in the house (like today) I love to dance around.

Here's a selection of bands I love to dance to:

The Libertines
Britney Spears
Backstreet Boys
The Clash
The Jam
The Ordinary Boys

and more.

I will most probably post some of my random dacing escapades soon!

10:20 pm - The Inaugural Girl Disco/Boy Disco Romp

After dinner, a small disco was had to the groovy sounds of my spectacular new mix cd.

The Tunes
- Franz Ferdinand/Take Me Out
- Pink Grease/Fever
- Diana Ross/Upside Down
- The Rapture/House Of Jealous Lovers
- Blondie/Rapture
- Lipps Inc./Funkytown
- The Killers/Somebody Told Me
- Baccara/Yes Sir, I Can Boogie
- Gang Of Four/Glass
- Goldfrapp/Train
- The Rapture/I Need Your Love
- Franz Ferdinand/Michael
- Nikka Costa/Like A Feather
- Outkast/Hey Ya
- Donna Summer/I Feel Love

The Location
Cutting up the rug in the dining room, yo. Not strictly a bedroom disco, but in the Big Pink Palace there is no room for multi-person discoing.

The Guests
Myself and hip sibling SlasherSister. Groovy.

The Clothes
Nothing special, really. Black jeans with mahoosive turn-ups, flip-flops, pirate t-shirt and a pink scarf.

The Vibe
It was a pleasant after dinner type thing. To be repeated at a later date. Success!

2:08 pm - Early Morning Indie Disco-ness

Possibly inspired by the late night creation of this community I had my very own bedroom indie disco...at 10 in the morning...

(This was also inspired by the fact that  my entire family were off and hogging my beloved computer...)

So I decided to put my boogie shoes on - some very fetching red sparkly high heels -  and clean my room indie disco styleee.

The Outfit

Pyjamas (mismatched) Teddy bear, quasi tartan bottoms and my new york dolls t-shirt, all set off nicely with my red sparkly shoes and purple head band...

Matching is, of course, for losers...

The Tunes

here is a small selection of the things I played...

  • The Pixies - Debaser
  • New York Dolls - Personality Crisis
  • Liquid Liquid - Optimo
  • Nancy Sinatra - These Boots are Made for Walking
  • Madonna - Like a Virgin
  • The Smiths - There is a light that never goes out
  • Peaches - Back it up, boys
  • The Sonics - Shot Down
  • Le Tigre - Hot Topic
  • Franz Ferdinand - Micheal
  • Devo - Mongoloid
  • The Vines - Ride
  • Britney - Toxic
  • Outkast - Hey Ya
  • The Rapture - House of Jealous Lovers
  • XTC - This is Pop
  • Patti Smith - Horses
  • Gang of Four - I found that essence rare
  • The Von Bondies - C'mon C'mon
  • Pink Grease - Fever
  • annnnnnnd the last dance Wolfman featuring Peter Doherty - For Lovers

Highlights of the evening...er...morning

The Big finale during for lovers which featured me and my mop in high heels and dancing/mopping...also the big where i got distracted from my rhythmical cleaning and began to writhe about to like a virgin...sexy blue and white cloth still in hand

Also my dad coming in to join me in dancing to Devo.

The Only Downside

The fact my bedroom has a stict no-smoking policy...even thought it has three ashtrays...

current mood: accomplished

11:41 pm - Obligatory Opening Post From Friendly Mod #1

Welcome to DancingInMyRoom, a community that celebrates the noble art of the bedroom discotheque.

We want to see:
- pictures of your bedroom disco
- what you were wearing
- what you played
- who came to your disco
- what you got up to
- generic cool stuff

So I urge you all to get the lights down low, get the music as loud as you feel, and shake your mighty stuff.

Love, Ellie
